Eddie Alicea is a Varying Exceptionalities teacher at Avalon Elementary by day and an adjunct professor of Exceptional Education at Barry University by night. Prior to working at Avalon Elementary he worked for 8 years at Passport Charter, the first charter school in Orange County, where as a founding member he served on the school’s Board of Directors. Originally from Yonkers, New York he has resided in Orlando since high school where he attended Boone. He also went on to attended college locally, going to Rollins and then UCF for his undergraduate and graduate degrees. A self-professed roller coaster fanatic, he enjoys living in the “vacation capital of the world” and is proud to call Avalon Park home. Kathleen founded the Avalon Park Advisory Board in 2002 and still attends all meetings serving wherever she is needed and was the first homeowner elected the Avalon Park Property Owners Association in 2004 where she served for 18 months. By day, Kathleen is Vice President/Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch in Winter Park where she helps many individuals build their wealth and by night, she is chauffeur extraordinaire to three children, Jeane, Nasser and Sharif. Chari Daignault is a Senior Systems Analyst for 3H Technology Federal Corp., working for the Department of Homeland Security. A prior US Marine, she has lived in the Orlando area for the past 19 years, after moving here from Hawaii. She is an avid gardener, trail hiker and home improvement enthusiast. During the rest of her "spare" time, she tests camping, hiking, and backpacking products for BackpackGearTest.org. She chose to build a house in Avalon Park with her partner due to its unique, small-town community feel and has called it home since May of 2006. Ken and his wife Gail have lived in Avalon Park since October of 2003. They are the proud parents of 2 grown men Mark and Steven. Ken owns and manages a souvenir apparel and promotional products business, which has kept him busy since 1999. In June of 2005, he founded the Avalon Park resident volunteer group named Keep Avalon Park Beautiful (KAPB). This group meets approximately once a month and picks up litter from around the common areas of Avalon Park. Ken is now the Chair of the Beautification Committee and looks forward to many great years living here in Avalon Park. Joe and his wife Barbara have lived in AP with their daughter Molly and their grandson Jacob for five years. They have raised their eight children and now serve as foster parents to twin infants. They are one of the original home owners. Joe is a founding member of the APAB. He is also on the AP Regional Park Planning Committee. Joe has his doctorate in education and has had a 39 year career in education, including high school teacher and football coach. He is currently Principal of Stonewall Jackson MS and he is currently involved in building community-school partnerships in east Orlando. He formerly served as a school board member of Spring Lake Public Schools and was a board member and president of the Saginaw Bay Phi Delta Kappa Educational Association in Michigan; also served on St. Mary’s Church Council, the “Y” Recreation Committee, & “Y” Swim Parents. Since coming to Orlando, he has coached in the Blanchard “Y” Soccer League and the AP PAL Basketball League. Michelle Owens has lived in Avalon Park for more than three years and was one of the first to move into South Village with her husband and two kids. She holds a master's degree in Urban Anthropology from the University of Memphis (Tennessee) and a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Savannah State University (Georgia). She is employed by Orange County Government, serving as the Principal Planner in the county's Neighborhood Services Division. Her professional emphasis is on neighborhood planning and community development. In her spare time, she is a contributing writer for New Urban Living magazine and the East Orlando Sun. She co-edited a book entitled "Community Building in the 21st Century: The Ties that Bind," and also co-wrote a chapter for the same book, to published by the School of American Research this summer. George Philbeck has been a resident of Avalon Park since May of 2005, and since that time has been very active with the elementary school as well as supporting the community in any way possible. George is a licensed real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty, and has a wife, Nicole and 2 young boys, ages 2 and 4. Prior to a successful career in Real Estate George was the regional manager and General manager for several large restaurant groups, including Chart House Restaurants and McCormick & Schmicks Seafood Restaurants. George’s passions are golf, cooking and of course his family. Armando "Manny" Rodriguez, married to Carmen for 20 years. We have a Brady Bunch family with five children including Daniel, age 7, the only one still at home. After retiring as an Engineering Associate with 30 years service at AT&T, we decided to leave New York and moved into Avalon Park in December, 2002. Having served as an HOA Board member in Staten Island, New York, for six years, I thought I could help out on the APAB. I've served as Head of the Beautification Committee, Treasurer, AP Citizens-On-Patrol committee and as the Chair of the Enforcement committee. Currently I'm an investor, landlord, Realtor and Real Estate Broker with Low Cost Realty Services. Jim is a commercial insurance broker that works with large trucking companies in the Southeast. He has lived in Avalon Park since early 2005 and joined the Avalon Park Advisory Board in 2008 as Beautification Chair. In that role Jim heads up the Avalon Park Yard of the Month program and the Keep Avalon Park Beautiful (KAPB) group that meets once a quarter to clean up various common areas including parks, schools, ponds, community entrances, and other more visible common areas of the community. The Foulks family (wife Linda; kids JT, Spencer, and Annsley) is a founding member of the Avalon Park YMCA, and Jim is a member of the Rotary Club of Avalon Park.
